Residents of BC are conscious of their health and the quality of what they consume. They are concerned about the environmental impact of the companies from which they purchase. While there is a strong preference for locally sourced products, many still buy their meat from large grocery chains. Unfortunately, BC ranchers currently cannot supply enough beef to meet these retailers’ demands due to the lack of a processing facility that can handle the volume and remain competitive.
